The Bible is from beginning to end the story of the Lamb. The one John pointed to and said, "Look, the Lamb of God" is the same one who said, "These are the Scriptures that testify about me." This Lenten season we will search those Scriptures to see for ourselves the story of the Lamb. Through this Lamb God has written eternal salvation into our life's story.
On Holy Thursday we see the story of the Lamb finds its way to the table. The great events of Holy Week and Easter parallel the great redemption of Israel at the Passover. At the first Passover meal, Israelite families ate the flesh of the lamb who saved them from death, so also we Christians eat the flesh of the Lamb who saves us—by Christ's word and institution. The Lamb who is your Savior is so near you that he is your meal.
